What is Silk? Silk is one of the strongest, and most luxurious natural fibres. Its production originated in Neolithic China within the Yangshao culture (4th millennium BC). It involves tremendous textile craft and represents an incredible human heritage.
100% Natural: Because we use 100% silk fabric, which is a natural fibre, and sew our garments using 100% silk thread, our garments are 100% natural and compostable. Note that silk is not vegan.
How does it feel when I wear it? For our womenswear pieces we use an extremely lightweight 100% Silk crepe de chine fabric. We love it for its soft, fluid drape, its cool handle, its crepe textured face and ultimately its wearability. Wearing your garment feels cool, like a breath of fresh air. It’s perfect for the warm summer months and can be layered over in the colder days.
OEKO-TEX Certification - STANDARD 100 label: This means you can rest assured that our fabric has been tested for harmful substances and that the quality therefore is harmless for human health. The test is conducted by our independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes. The test takes into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements.
Where do you source this fabric? This fabric is sourced from Elsegood Silk Fabrics in Alexandria and are woven in China, the birthplace of silk.

Our model Kaitlyn is wearing our size M (14/16). She usually wears a dress size of AU 16. and her bra size is between 16E and 18E. She is 180cm tall and the dress falls below her knee. See size chart for her full measurements.
How we achieve a more inclusive fit:
Because of this inclusive fit and added stretch from the dress’s construction our Soie Slip Dress Sizes cover 2 Australian Standard Sizes: our S size covers both sizes 10 and sizes 12; our M size covers both sizes 14 and 16; etc.
IF WE DO NOT OFFER YOUR SIZE WE ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO WORK ON A CUSTOM ORDER FOR YOU. Feel free to contact us at hello@soie-lingerie.com.au and we will happily answer any questions. We can’t wait to dress you and work on your pieces!
Our long slip dress with adjustable straps is cut on the bias to flow on your body lines and enhance them with understated luxury. Designed to drape around your curves, this little black dress is the subtle-meets-stunning piece you’ll want to wear all day everyday. More than anything, it is designed to be a pleasure to wear with its divinely soft silk fabric and the freedom of movement the cut provides.
Suiting every occasion: from a morning walk to the markets, to an afternoon at the art gallery, or a warm summer night dinner, this dress is the subtle-meets-stunning uniform you can style infinitely. It is your clean creative canvas, allowing you to flow through summer and express your personality through subtle sensuality.
- Cut on the bias (provides a more inclusive fit, with elegant drape, and freedom of movement).
- Feminine silhouette (the dress’s pattern has been shaped to mark the waist and slightly hug your curves).
- Side slit (for enhanced freedom of movement).
- Signature Tasmanian Waratah embroidery at the back.
- Adjustable shoulder straps. NOTE: shoulder straps are different widths for different sizes: sizes XS and S have 8mm shoulder straps, size M has 18mm shoulder straps, and size L has 25mm shoulder straps. This is to enhance the wearability of the dress and can keep proportions relatively consistent.
- Low underarm cut (to avoid sweat marks).
- French seams finish (this is a cleaner, more elegant, and longer lasting type of seam which ensures that the stitches are hidden and do not touch the skin). This ensures our dress is super comfortable to wear, especially for those of us with hypersensitive skin.
- The Black and Red dresses have a single layer of fabric (since the fabric is opaque and has no sheer) while the Blush dress is double layered (and finished by hand) to ensure the dress is not sheer and enhance its wearability.
